CAFICMEIS
This project is based of experiments conducted using various non-destructive and non-invasive testing techniques on carbon and glass fiber reinforced composites (FRC). Induced defects where used to compare the various techniques.
Mechanical impedance tests proved to be the most accurate in determining the delaminations between the skin and the core of composite plate structure.
The ultrasonic tests provided good results in the determining the size defects. Test procedures for fiber reinforced composites have also been developed. The use of the thermograph is recommend because of its portability, remote inspection capability and speed of interrogation.
INAV developed various test probes with carbon fiber and controlled induced defects and also a Mechanical Robot equipped with various testing solutions for large industrial pipes.
